Individuals who wish to explore and express their feelings, discover more enriching ways of living and to develop harmonious ways of being in relationships may find counselling rewarding and fulfilling. The experience can be challenging and is sometimes painful, but like a splinter, once eased out, healing and restoration can take place.
How does it work?
Counselling is a professional, contracted therapeutic relation-ship into which client and counsellor enter willingly.
I offer an environment of deepest respect and warmth to create a feeling of safety and comfort where you will be trusted and your feelings heard. Together, we explore your worries and fears. There may be painful wounds from your past, dissatisfaction or unhappiness about your current situation or concerns about your future - and any combination of these. Counselling is about change - making changes to your life where appropriate - and learning to accept those things which cannot be changed. Counselling is a journey of exploration and discovery - to find the person you were born to be and to feel confident and contented with who you are.
The direction and pace of our journey together is determined by you, the client. Together we will regularly review the therapeutic relationship and its progress. I will be equally committed to helping you leave counselling when you are ready.
Sessions usually are 1-hour (or on occasion, up to 1.5 or 2) hours, depending upon your needs and my availability. This may be a flexible arrangement as your needs change. Sessions are often attended on a weekly basis. Sessions are available via telephone, Skype, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and Facetime etc..
The Lotus flower is known to be an amazing thing. It starts as a small flower, down at the bottom of a pool, in the mud and muck. It is said to grow up slowly towards the waters' surface, continually moving toward the light. It grows, reaches the surface and blossoms becoming its fullness - an object of great beauty. Lotus flowers are also regarded to symbolise the journey of a person who has struggled through hard times and has now begun to emerge in a better place.
This beautiful little flower reminds me of the journeys of those with whom I often work. I witness him or her sometimes strive to break free from the past, to find healing for deep and painful wounds, and to start to learn to become the person they were born to be. With patience, commitment and hard work, he or she emerges into a unique, empowered, confident person who has begun to be open to experience the richness and fulfillment of Life (indeed, to blossom), and has found greater peace and harmony within.
